German Landlord's Rental Document Package

When you rent your apartment or house in Germany, you must provide the following documents to the tenant.

• Property handover protocol (Wohnungsübergabeprotokol)
• Rental Contract (Mietvertrag)
• Confirmation about who moved into your apartment (Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung)

Property handover protocol (Wohnungsübergabeprotokol)

• In this document, you record the property's current condition to avoid future conflicts.
• The document has probative value in court. Thus, the court will consider Übergabeprotokol as proof if it comes to the worst-case scenario.

Rental Contract (Mietvertrag)

It is the contract between you as a landlord and the tenant. It contains the terms and conditions of renting a property.

Confirmation about who moved into your apartment (Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung)

As a landlord, you provide this document to your tenants so that they can register at the Rathaus.

The document is the proof that your tenant moved into the property at a certain date. Without this document, the tenants cannot register themselves at the Rathaus.
