Here is a free sample letter that you can use to terminate your health insurance contract in Germany.

You can cancel your private health insurance policy by submitting a termination request in writing. You must write the letter in German and send it via a registered post.

As a foreigner in Germany, it might be tricky to write a letter in German. Thus, we wrote it for you. You can download the sample for free and use it to cancel your health insurance contract.

Your letter must contain the following information.

• Your insurance number
• Explicitly mention the term "termination (Kündigung in German)"
• When do you want to cancel the contract? Usually, it's as soon as possible.
• Your signature
• Proof of the new insurance policy
